🎯 Install Zen Studio on macOS
Complete guide to install and configure Cronus Zen Studio on your Mac using a Windows 11 ARM virtual machine. Perfect for Mac users who want to use RocketMod scripts.
📋 Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure you have:
- Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) or Intel Mac
- Windows 11 ARM VM installed - Follow this guide first
- VMware Fusion installed and running
- Cronus Zen device with USB cable
- Stable internet connection
⚠️ Important: You must first install Windows 11 ARM on your Mac before following this guide. If you haven't done so, follow the Windows 11 ARM VM installation guide.
🚀 Step 1: Prepare Your Virtual Machine
1.1 Start Windows 11 VM
- Open VMware Fusion
- Select your Windows 11 ARM virtual machine
- Click the Play button (▶️) to start
- Wait for Windows to fully boot to desktop
1.2 Verify VMware Tools Installation
VMware Tools should already be installed from the VM setup:
- ✅ Mouse cursor moves smoothly
- ✅ Display auto-resizes with window
- ✅ Can copy/paste between Mac and Windows
If not installed:
- Click Virtual Machine → Install VMware Tools
- Follow installation wizard in Windows
- Restart the VM
🔌 Step 2: Enable USB 3.0 Support
2.1 Configure USB Settings
- Power off the virtual machine (if running)
- In VMware Fusion, click Settings button
- Click USB & Bluetooth
- Enable USB 3.0 support
- Set USB Compatibility to USB 3.1
- Click Show All to return
- Close Settings window
- Start the virtual machine again
💡 Why USB 3.0? Cronus Zen requires USB 3.0 for optimal performance and reliable firmware updates.
💿 Step 3: Download Zen Studio
3.1 Download in Windows VM

In your Windows 11 VM, open Microsoft Edge browser

Navigate to the official Cronus website:

Click Download Zen Studio button

Save the installer to your Downloads folder

Wait for download to complete (approximately 50-100MB)
3.2 Verify Download
- Open File Explorer (Windows key + E)
- Go to Downloads folder
- Look for ZenStudio_Setup.exe file
- File size should be around 50-100MB
🛠️ Step 4: Install Zen Studio
4.1 Run Installer
- In Downloads folder, double-click ZenStudio_Setup.exe
- Click Yes if prompted by User Account Control
4.2 Installation Wizard

- Read the welcome message

- Read the license terms
- Check I accept the agreement
- Click Next

Installation Location:
- Default location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cronus\Zen Studio - Recommended: Keep default location

Start Menu Folder:
- Default: Cronus
- Click Next

Additional Tasks:
- ✅ Check Create a desktop shortcut (recommended)
- ✅ Check Create a Quick Launch shortcut (optional)
- Click Next

Ready to Install:
- Review installation settings
- Click Install

Installation Progress:
- Wait 1-2 minutes for installation
- Progress bar will show status

Completing Setup:
- ✅ Check Launch Zen Studio (optional)
- Click Finish
🔌 Step 5: Connect Cronus Zen Device
5.1 Physical Connection

Plug Cronus Zen into your Mac via USB cable:
- Use the PROG (Programming) port on Cronus Zen
- Use a quality USB cable (included with device)

VMware Connection Prompt:
- VMware will detect the USB device
- A prompt will appear asking where to connect it
- Select Connect to Windows or Connect to Virtual Machine
- Click OK
5.2 Verify Device Detection
In Windows VM:
- Open Device Manager (Right-click Start → Device Manager)
- Look under Ports (COM & LPT)
- You should see: CronusMAX PLUS II (COMx) or Cronus Zen (COMx)
- If you see a yellow warning icon, driver installation needed (see Troubleshooting)
🎯 Step 6: Launch and Configure Zen Studio
6.1 First Launch

Open Zen Studio:
- Double-click desktop shortcut, OR
- Start Menu → Cronus → Zen Studio

Windows Firewall Prompt:
- Click Allow access if prompted
- This allows Zen Studio to communicate with the device
6.2 Initial Setup

Welcome Screen:
- Read the welcome message
- Click Next or Get Started

Device Detection:
- Zen Studio will automatically detect your Cronus Zen
- Device status will show: Connected
- Firmware version will be displayed
6.3 Check for Firmware Updates

In Zen Studio, click Device menu

Select Check for Updates

If update is available:
- Click Download and Install
- Wait for update process (2-5 minutes)
- Do NOT disconnect device during update
- Device will reboot automatically

7.1 Download RocketMod Scripts
Option A: Download on Mac, Transfer to VM

On your Mac, visit:

Download your desired script (GPC file)

Save to a folder on Mac (e.g., Downloads)

Transfer to Windows VM:

Method 1 - Shared Folders:
- VMware → Settings → Sharing → Enable Shared Folders
- Add your Mac Downloads folder
- Access from Windows: Network → VMware Shared Folders

Method 2 - Drag & Drop:
- Simply drag the GPC file from Mac to Windows desktop
- VMware Tools enables drag & drop

Option B: Download Directly in Windows VM
- In Windows VM, open browser
- Visit: RocketMod Downloads
- Download script directly to Windows Downloads folder
7.2 Load Script into Zen Studio
- In Zen Studio, click File → Open
- Navigate to the downloaded GPC file
- Select the file and click Open
- The script will load in Zen Studio editor
7.3 Program Script to Device
- Click Device → Program to Device (or press F9)
- Wait for programming process (10-30 seconds)
- Status will show: Programming Complete
- Your Cronus Zen now has the RocketMod script loaded!

8.1 Enable Shared Folders
For easy script management:

- Click Virtual Machine → Settings
- Click Sharing

Add Mac Folder:
- Select folder (e.g.,

8.2 Access Shared Folders in Windows
- Open File Explorer in Windows
- Go to Network
- Open VMware Shared Folders
- Your Mac folders are now accessible
- You can load scripts directly from shared folder in Zen Studio

- Don't shut down between gaming sessions
- Use Suspend instead (Virtual Machine → Suspend)
- Faster to resume than full boot
