📋 Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure you have:

  • Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) or Intel Mac
  • Windows 11 ARM VM installed - Follow this guide first
  • VMware Fusion installed and running
  • Cronus Zen device with USB cable
  • Stable internet connection

⚠️ Important: You must first install Windows 11 ARM on your Mac before following this guide. If you haven't done so, follow the Windows 11 ARM VM installation guide.


🚀 Step 1: Prepare Your Virtual Machine

1.1 Start Windows 11 VM

  1. Open VMware Fusion
  2. Select your Windows 11 ARM virtual machine
  3. Click the Play button (▶️) to start
  4. Wait for Windows to fully boot to desktop

1.2 Verify VMware Tools Installation

VMware Tools should already be installed from the VM setup:

  • ✅ Mouse cursor moves smoothly
  • ✅ Display auto-resizes with window
  • ✅ Can copy/paste between Mac and Windows

If not installed:

  1. Click Virtual MachineInstall VMware Tools
  2. Follow installation wizard in Windows
  3. Restart the VM

🔌 Step 2: Enable USB 3.0 Support

2.1 Configure USB Settings

  1. Power off the virtual machine (if running)
  2. In VMware Fusion, click Settings button
  3. Click USB & Bluetooth
  4. Enable USB 3.0 support

  1. In your Windows 11 VM, open Microsoft Edge browser

  2. Navigate to the official Cronus website:

  3. Click Download Zen Studio button

  4. Save the installer to your Downloads folder

  5. Wait for download to complete (approximately 50-100MB)

3.2 Verify Download

  1. Open File Explorer (Windows key + E)
  2. Go to Downloads folder
  3. Look for ZenStudio_Setup.exe file
  4. File size should be around 50-100MB

4.1 Run Installer

  1. In Downloads folder, double-click ZenStudio_Setup.exe
  2. Click Yes if prompted by User Account Control

4.2 Installation Wizard

  1. Welcome Screen:

  2. License Agreement:

    • Read the license terms
    • Check I accept the agreement
    • Click Next
  3. Installation Location:

    • Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Cronus\Zen Studio

  4. Start Menu Folder:

    • Default: Cronus
    • Click Next
  5. Additional Tasks:

    • ✅ Check Create a desktop shortcut (recommended)
    • ✅ Check Create a Quick Launch shortcut (optional)
    • Click Next
  6. Ready to Install:

    • Review installation settings
    • Click Install
  7. Installation Progress:

    • Wait 1-2 minutes for installation
    • Progress bar will show status
  8. Completing Setup:

    • ✅ Check Launch Zen Studio (optional)
    • Click Finish

🔌 Step 5: Connect Cronus Zen Device

5.1 Physical Connection

  1. Plug Cronus Zen into your Mac via USB cable:

    • Use the PROG (Programming) port on Cronus Zen
    • Use a quality USB cable (included with device)

  1. Open Zen Studio:

    • Double-click desktop shortcut, OR
    • Start Menu → Cronus → Zen Studio

    • Click Allow access if prompted
    • This allows Zen Studio to communicate with the device

6.2 Initial Setup

  1. Welcome Screen:

    • Read the welcome message
    • Click Next or Get Started
  2. Device Detection:

    • Zen Studio will automatically detect your Cronus Zen

    • Method 1 - Shared Folders:

    • Method 2 - Drag & Drop:

      • Simply drag the GPC file from Mac to Windows desktop
      • VMware Tools enables drag & drop

Option B: Download Directly in Windows VM

  1. In Windows VM, open browser
  2. Visit: RocketMod Downloads
  3. Download script directly to Windows Downloads folder

7.2 Load Script into Zen Studio

  1. In Zen Studio, click FileOpen
  2. Navigate to the downloaded GPC file
  3. Select the file and click Open
  4. The script will load in Zen Studio editor

7.3 Program Script to Device

  1. Click DeviceProgram to Device (or press F9)
  2. Wait for programming process (10-30 seconds)
  3. Status will show: Programming Complete
  4. Your Cronus Zen now has the RocketMod script loaded!

8.1 Enable Shared Folders

For easy script management:

  1. In VMware Fusion menu:

    • Click Virtual MachineSettings
    • Click Sharing
  2. Configure Sharing:

    • ✅ Check Enable Shared Folders
    • Click + button to add folder
  3. Add Mac Folder:

    • Select folder (e.g., ~/Documents/RocketMod Scripts)
    • Set permissions: Read & Write
    • Click Add

8.2 Access Shared Folders in Windows

  1. Open File Explorer in Windows
  2. Go to Network
  3. Open VMware Shared Folders
  4. Your Mac folders are now accessible
  5. You can load scripts directly from shared folder in Zen Studio

  1. Keep VM Running:

    • Don't shut down between gaming sessions
    • Use Suspend instead (Virtual Machine → Suspend)
