The Right Way to Setup Aim Assist β Shape β Size β Speed
Follow this method to configure AA Rocket correctly for smooth, stable, consistent assist. It works with any controller, sensitivity, or playstyle β as long as you follow the steps in order.
1οΈβ£ Shape β 2οΈβ£ Size β 3οΈβ£ Speed
β
Follow this order and aim assist becomes smoother, stronger, and more predictable.
β Skip a step or change the order and you'll almost always get shaking, weak assist, or random behavior.
Before you start
- Button Layout matches your in-game layout (menu β Misc β Buttons Layout)
- In-game deadzones are set correctly
- FOV is reasonable for aim assist β 100β110 max works for most games
If your button layout is wrong, everything below will feel unpredictable no matter what values you pick. See the Setup RocketMod Cronus Zen From A-Z guide for a full first-time install.
Understanding LS & RS
- Left Stick (LS) β "movement-based" assist. Activates when you move the left stick (e.g. strafing) and rotates your aim toward the target. Think: move me into the aim assist bubble.
- Right Stick (RS) β the tracking/adhesion layer. Activates when your reticle is near a target and slows your camera to help you stay on it. Think: hold me inside the bubble.
Shape, Size, and Speed define exactly how LS and RS interact with that bubble.
Step 1 β Choose your Shape
Shape defines the personality of your aim assist. If it doesn't match your playstyle, nothing else will feel good β see the full Aim Assist Shapes Guide for every option.
| Playstyle | Try |
|---|---|
| Balanced | Sway, Cardinal, Circular, Wide Oval |
| Aggressive (SMG) | Sway, Spiral, Helix |
| Precision | Sway, Tall Oval |
Pick what matches how you actually play β don't copy a "meta" shape that doesn't fit your style.
Step 2 β Set LS & RS Size
Size defines how wide the activation bubble is, separately for LS and RS. Get this wrong and nothing else feels right, even with a good Shape and Speed.
- Too small β weak or no activation, feels inconsistent or delayed
- Too big β drifting and shaking, aim becomes unpredictable
- Just right β activates reliably near a target, no drift, you're still in control
Process: start very small, increase one step at a time, stop the moment activation feels stable. Balance LS and RS together β don't change both at once without testing.
Step 3 β Tune Speed
Speed is the reaction strength once assist has activated. Test in a private match on a small map.
- Too low β nothing seems to happen, weak pull
- Too high β the reticle shakes or vibrates while tracking
Process: raise Left Speed step by step, testing each time. Do the same for Right Speed. The moment you see shaking, back off one step β your perfect speed is one step below the shaking point: smooth, stable, reactive.
Example workflow
- Select your Shape
- Set LS Size, then RS Size
- Tune LS Speed, then RS Speed
- Micro-adjust until there's zero shake
- Test at different ranges
Watch it in action
Common mistakes
- Choosing a Shape that doesn't fit your playstyle
- Raising Size too far, too fast
- Tuning Speed before Size is dialed in
- Copying someone else's values without understanding LS vs RS
- Getting used to a small shake instead of fixing it
Every controller, sensitivity, and player is different, which is why there's no universal fixed value β but Shape β Size β Speed works for everyone.
